ISO เป็นองค์กรมาตรฐานสากลที่กำหนดแนวทางและแนวปฏิบัติที่ดีที่สุดสำหรับอุตสาหกรรมต่างๆ ISO ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 2490 ได้สร้างมาตรฐานมากกว่า 22,000 มาตรฐาน ครอบคลุมเกือบทุกหัวข้อที่เป็นไปได้ ประเทศไทยตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของการรับรองมาตรฐาน ISO และเข้าร่วมเป็นองค์กรในปี พ.ศ. 2516. แผนการรับรอง ISO หลักมีสามแผน: การจัดการคุณภาพ การจัดการสิ่งแวดล้อม และการจัดการความปลอดภัย องค์กรใดๆ ในประเทศไทยสามารถยื่นขอใบรับรอง ISO ได้ และกระบวนการนี้ค่อนข้างตรงไปตรงมา บริษัทไทยที่ได้รับการรับรองมาตรฐาน ISO นั้นมีประโยชน์มากมาย เช่น ประสิทธิภาพที่เพิ่มขึ้น ต้นทุนที่ลดลง และความสามารถในการแข่งขันที่เพิ่มขึ้น.
